“We accept people right where they are, just the way they are.”
Tex Evans, founder of ASP
The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people that inspire hope and service through volunteer home repair in Central Appalachia. ASP was founded in 1969 by Rev. Tex Evans to make houses warmer, drier, and safer for impoverished families living in the Central Appalachia. Today ASP serves communities in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. First United Methodist Church of High Point has sent volunteers to ASP for over 30 consecutive years!
