Prayer Class

Every Sunday morning, we as a church proclaim with a unified voice the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray. This act of collective recitation is a powerful moment of worship inviting all present to approach our loving Father who calls us His own. What a blessing it is that Christ gave us this example and that the church has preserved it through these centuries. I’m so glad that one of the disciples stopped and said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1).

Prayer is a foundation of the Christian life. Prayer deepens our relationship with Christ, invites change in our hearts, strengthens us in our weaknesses, gives flight to our concerns and invites God to hear our cries for help. A praying Christian is an empowered and grounded Christian. Therefore, it is vital that all of us repeat the words of the disciple and say, Lord, teach us to pray.

As such, please consider this your invitation to study and practice the ministry of prayer. On Saturdays a new small group at FUMC calling itself Soulful Grace will open the scriptures, discuss that week’s story or passage about prayer, and then join together in supplication, intercession, and the giving of thanks. We will meet from 11:00 to 12:30 each Saturday from now until the end of August, and we welcome church members and guests alike. Come journey with us and learn to approach boldly the throne of grace!
