The Good Shepherd Shop Clothing Closet

Opened in February of 2023 to all those in the High Point community in need of clothing, The Good Shepherd Shop is a closet for gently used men's, women's, and children's clothes and shoes, along with children's books. Shoppers are welcome to select up to six items per visit, in addition to any needed shoes, socks, and undergarments, all completely free of charge - and all thanks to the generous donations of the members, family, and friends of FUMC.

History of the Shop

What started as a hopeful idea turned into a beautiful reality when several church members and a few community members combined their skills to renovate the space on FUMC’s campus between the Shared Blessing Food Pantry and Praise & Worship Space on Wrenn Street. A few short weeks later, the space was ready to be filled. Volunteers sorted and hung clothing and decorated the space to create a welcoming, sophisticated space where love is felt as soon as you walk in the door.

"We could not be more thankful and grateful for the response we have received from the church, friends, and neighbors and look forward to a mission that will only grow as time goes on," stated Pat Hart, a founding visionary of the closet. Less than ten days after its grand opening, the Good Shepherd Shop reported an average of 38 to 45 customers per day, along with 5 to 10 church volunteers helping with check-out, shop maintenance, and shopper assistance. A total of nearly 1,000 articles of clothing was given out in just four days!
