Come Worship, Connect, and Serve in the Heart of Downtown High Point!

Whether you are looking for an engaging and dynamic worship service, an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in your community, or make a difference by serving the needs of the downtown High Point and beyond, there is something here for YOU at First!

Our goal is for you to feel comfortable and welcome before you even step foot on campus! Here are some good things to know.

Worship: First offers three unique worship services each Sunday morning: an Informal Traditional service at 8:30, a Praise & Worship Contemporary service at 9:00, and a Traditional service at 11:00. Click here to find the right fit for you.

Location: First UMC’s address is 512 N. Main Street, High Point, NC 27260. Our church campus is located on the city block between Richardson Street and Church Street, facing Main and backing up to Wrenn Street. The Sanctuary building sits on the corner of First and Richardson. Click here for a birds-eye view map.

Parking: Parking is available in the church parking lot on Main Street. Please look for guest parking spots specifically saved for you! Street parking is also available along Main and Wrenn.

Accessibility: Handicap parking spots are available both in the church parking lot, as well as directly in front of the Sanctuary on Main Street. Non-stair options are available at the entrance of all of our church buildings. The Sanctuary building offers a ramp between the Sanctuary and Education buildings that can be accessed via a pull-through driveway entered from Wrenn (next to the playground!) where folks can be dropped off. Ushers are also available to assist at the entrance to each worship space.

Coffee & Breakfast: Be sure to arrive early and stop by A Special Blend coffee shop right on campus! Located adjacent to the parking lot on Wrenn, A Special Blend is a non-profit coffee shop that employs adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and serves delicious coffee, pastries, breakfast/brunch. You’ll likely run in to several First folks! We love our neighbors, and we know you will, too! Learn more here.

What to Wear: First is a “come as you are” type of place! You will find people in anything from jeans to dresses. Most people will dress in business casual or casual clothes at the 8:30 and 9:00 service and more formally at the 11:00 service. However, the most important thing is that you are comfortable!

Children: Children are always welcome at worship services. The 11:00 service hosts “A Moment for All Ages” where children up to age 5 are invited to meet the Director of Children’s Ministries at the front for a short, interactive message following which they travel together to Room 113 of the Education building (1st floor) where they can be picked up following the service.

The nursery is available from 9:45 to 12:15 for infants through age 4 in Room 113 of the Education building. Our nursery is staffed by paid caregivers and volunteers who have undergone background checks and provide consistent and loving care of your children. For more informtion or if you have any questions, contact Kim Myers, Director of Children’s Ministries: kim@fumc-highpoint.org; 336-889-4429.

Questions? Feel free to contact Pastor Josh (joshbarnes@fumc-highpoint.org) or Pastor Willis (willisgreene@fumc-highpoint.org) with any questions or concerns you may have about your upcoming visit. In fact, if you are planning on coming, we would like a heads-up so we can be looking for you!
