The 2021 Church Merger

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor." (Eccles. 4:9)

On Sunday, April 11, after nearly a year of deliberation with the Conference, FUMC, and others, Christ UMC in High Point voted to begin a merger process with our congregation.

We celebrated having taken this significant step in our church's journey, partnering together to be a more effective witness and impact for the Kingdom of God.

Congregants from both First and Christ gathered for a Charge Conference on Tuesday, June 15 and voted to approve the official Merger Covenant, with Rev. Bev Coppley attending and signing the document to make it official.

Finally, on Sunday, June 27 2021 we celebrated the joining of Christ UMC and First UMC - donning bright yellow sunglasses because our future is BRIGHT!
