May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

As I reflect on the past year, I am reminded of all the ways in which we are faithfully living out our mission of sharing the hope of Christ from the heart of High Point. Our church family has worshiped God passionately via powerful and moving worship services, connected people to God and one another through our year-long study of the Bible and various Sunday School classes and small groups, and served God by giving our time, talents, and treasures. We continue to strengthen our missions ministry in powerful ways. We opened the Good Shepherd Shop clothing closet, provided over 300 fully stocked backpacks to Northwood Elementary School, and fed our hungry neighbors through the Shared Blessing food pantry and monthly Community Meal. At First UMC, the hope of Christ abounds.

We are undoubtedly living through troubling and consequential times and often we can get lost in the daily difficulties of life. However, this year's stewardship verse (found at the top of this page) reminds us that our God is a God of hope who brings us joy and peace. Hope is about the future, and through our faith, we are able to rest in the assurance that a merciful and powerful God will see us through.

As we prepare to enter a new year, prayerfully consider the ways in which you can “overflow with hope” given to you by the Holy Spirit.

How can you share His heavenly peace?

How can you continue to share God's gift of hope with our community and beyond?

Please take time to pray over the ways God is calling you to share your treasures with His church. Below you will find a link to download a 2024 Commitment Card (also available in the church office) or to fill out a Digital Commitment Card. We will celebrate Commitment Sunday on November 19 by bringing our completed cards to the altar as an act of worship, remembering that any talent or treasure we possess belongs to God and His church, however, pledges can be made and adjusted anytime throughout the year by contacting the church office.

Thank you for your continued generous support of our church and its many ministries. Let’s continue to live up to our mission of sharing the hope of Christ from the heart of High Point.

Sincerely,

Derek Church, Stewardship Committee Chair
